About Us: CLEVENGER PIANOS
I grew up in a family that has been involved in the piano business for many years. My father began as a piano technician in the early 50's and continued until his death a few years ago. He tuned and rebuilt many pianos such as Steinway and Baldwin during his career.
As a young man, I helped my father doing the usual things such as replacing bridal straps, cleaning out pianos, replacing keytops, helping with the stripping and refinishing process. I graduated to the more complicated jobs such as shaping hammers, restringing and pin block replacement. I started my own piano business in the late 60's which I have continued until the present. I have rebuilt many Steinways and Baldwins over the years and will continue to specialize in these quality instruments.
Pianos shown on this page were rebuilt a few years ago. One is a Steinway DuoArt player and the other is a 7" Knabe art case grand. Both of these pianos were sold to Flip Wilson in Malibu Calif a few years before his death. I had the opportunity to travel to Calif. and set the pianos up in his home and visit with him and his wife.
I worked at a local University some years ago as their Piano Tech. and rebuilt many Mason & Hamlin pianos for their music dept.
I am a avid aviation enthusiast and presently own a two place
ultralight airplane. (see photos below)
